I am a gatherer...

I pick up "finds" almost every day.  We don't have mail delivery to the house, and therefore usually walk to the post office daily.

I find many treasures that come home in my pockets.  Bits of dishes, pottery, metal parts.  The ceramic I've collected in a big 5-gallon bucket.  I'm planning on making a mosaic sometime, something on the order of pique assiette--I like to dream grand.

While I've accepted the 5X7 weekly art challenge I was trying to find a theme that I could work out for the year.  Just making a 5X7 willy nilly is a bit hard and I needed some focus.  This morning I decided that I would make works incorporating my found treasures, so that eventually I can hang them together with some sort of unity.
This is only a little bit of my collection.  I have little piles all over.  My husband will be happy to see some of it put to use!  So here is my next "first" 5X7.  I'm officially starting my year this month, with February since I'm starting a new decade, and now have a plan.

This is really a fun use of found objects, Hilda. I love your idea of doing things with them for your 5 x 7's!

I'm visiting from 5 x 7. I love all your found objects and I'll look forward to seeing some of them in your quilts :)
