Three more done...

I've been making progress on the quilting front despite the many trips to Albuquerque.  Got all the cats "fixed," including the big tom cat which we didn't think would get trapped.  Then 3 of the kittens disappeared for nearly a week.  I feared the worst, but two of them have returned.  One is still missing!

This is another quilt from Patty E.  A pretty jelly roll race with batiks, and Pat had the perfect backing for it.

Two more from Tove, a bigger one, and a smaller one.

I already have a half dozen quilts to take to Dr. Kaufman.

Thanks, friends for all the tops!  I still have a number of them to quilt!

Of moths and such...

Anyone who knows me, knows I have an irrational fear of moths (and most other insects as well).  As a little girl I also used to run in the house screaming fearing butterflies.  (Some story someone told me as a child about butterfly dust making you go blind, which could conceivably be true in Brazil!)

Dale brought me this lovely, dried little moth he found in the window of the sun room.  It has an elegant name as well, Agreeable tiger moth.

This next one is rather large, in the Saturnidae family.  We had a mating pair about the same time last year.  Then again this year!

I can tell you if one of these flew into me, you'd probably hear me screaming in the next county.

Starting a new batch...

My stack of quilts were delivered and I've started a new stack.  First up is this quilt with mixed fabrics (cotton and polyester) which was difficult to work with.
But in the end, after quilting it turned out okay.  I backed it with flannel and it will be a good, warm, utility quilt.  Not sure about the origin, but I think it came from Oklahoma.

The next two are from Tove, who has sent me another box of tops!  Woo-hoo!  I have enough to keep me busy for a while without having to do much piecing!
I was able to load these on one backing and get a "twofer."
I've been burning up the road between home and Albuquerque taking trapped kitties to be fixed.  I've gotten all our clowder done with the TNR (Trap Neuter Return) program offered by the Humane Shelter.  A very good service to prevent more unwanted kittens.

Quilts delivered...

I finished the quilt I had started from orphan blocks.  We had eight quilts for Dr. Kaufman, along with my Route 66 quilt which I gave her for a raffle.

I backed it with this child friendly print I had in my stash.  It was from IKEA quite a while back.

Today I made replacement seats and backs for our director chairs.  This is also fabric from IKEA, a heavier, home decorator weight.  I've been waiting for just the right occasion to use it.

This quilt, Melbourne town, has inspired me to get more of my orphans out and start building my own town.

Our Spanish broom bush is thriving this year.  It must have enjoyed all the spring rains.
